CCTV released after teenager has teeth knocked out in Sunderland assault

Northumbria Police have released CCTV images of a man who they want to speak to in connection with an assault in Sunderland city centre.

The attack is said to have taken place on Friday, October 23 at around 10.45pm on Clanny Street – near to the Sunderland University’s City Campus.

It has been reported that an 18-year-old male was assaulted by another man, having one of his teeth knocked out as a result of the attack.

Officers investigating the incident have now identified a man that they would like to speak to in connection with the attack.

Police say that he was in the area at the time of the attack and could have information that can assist officers with their inquiries.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Detectives investigating an assault in Sunderland city centre have released an image of a man they would like to trace.

“An investigation has been ongoing into the attack which happened on Clanny Street at about 10.45pm on October 23.

“It was reported that the 18-year-old male victim was assaulted by another man – and had one of his teeth knocked out as a result.

“Enquiries have been ongoing since the incident, and officers have now identified a man they would like to speak to in connection with the investigation.

Police are asking the man, or anyone who recognises him, to contact them via the “Tell Us Something” page on their website or by calling 101, quoting log 423 251020.
