Bullying teenager banned from his mother's home after threatening to smash her face in

Kallan Hamilton, 19, of Felton Court, Oxclose, Washington, also pulled wires from her television after she refused to give him cash on Friday, February 28.

He has now been ordered to stay away from her property in Bassenfell Court, Albany, for a year under the terms of a restraining order.

But he can see her at a neutral venue after their strained relationship was partially healed, South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court heard.

Prosecutor Ben Woodward said: “The injured party was the mother of the defendant. She described their relationship as being difficult.

“The defendant has anger issues and can be aggressive towards women.

“He came to his mother’s property and was aggressive. She lives with her young son who the defendant bullies.

“In February she allowed the defendant to stay in the home. She describes that he terrified her, and he took the phone off her.

“He demanded money, which she refused. He pulled wires out of the TV and said that he would smash her face in.

“The mum has made an application for a restraining order for him not to contact her or for him to enter Albany.”

In a victim statement read to the court, Hamilton’s victim said she lived in dread of him and stated he always caused trouble for her and her younger son.

Sandra Fife, defending, said: “This is an offence that goes back a significant period. He’s only just turned 19.

“The position is that he’s seen his mum subsequently. He also has a good relationship with his sister.

“He’s not allowed to visit his mother’s property as it is a Gentoo property, but she does visit him.”

Hamilton pleaded guilty to causing harassment, alarm or distress and causing criminal damage.

As well as the restraining order, District Judge Kathryn Meek gave him a 12-month community order.

It has a requirement of up to 20 days of rehabilitation work with the Probation Service.

He was fined £100, with £85 court costs, and must pay his mum £30 compensation.
