Attempted ram raid at Sunderland shop

A Sunderland convenience shop was the target of an attempted burglary after the shutters of the store were damaged by a vehicle.

The incident happened at the Premier store on Ethel Terrace overnight between Thursday, March 26 and Friday, March 27.

Northumbria Police confirmed that no-one gained access to the shop and nothing was stolen.

A force spokesperson said: “Shortly after 7.30am on Friday, March 27 we received a report of an attempted burglary at the Premier store on Ethel Terrace, Sunderland.

“It was reported that overnight a vehicle had been used to damage the shutters of the store. However, access was not gained and nothing was taken.”
