Attackers, banned drivers and bungling Christmas Day raiders - the latest Sunderland defendants at court

Keith Leonard, 48, of High Street East, Sunderland, received an eight-week jail term, suspended for 12 months, and was ordered to pay £100 compensation, a £122 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs after he admitted committing assault on February 14.

Ronald Christopher Taylor, 35, of Borough Road, Sunderland, received a 12-month jail term, which was suspended for a year, and was ordered to pay a £122 victim surcharge and £85 court costs after admitting going equipped for theft on Christmas Day 2019.

Mark Reeves, 34, of Dilston Close, Washington, received four penalty points and was fined £384, ordered to pay a £38 victim surcharge and £300 costs after he was found guilty of driving in a position where he did not have full control of a vehicle on August 5 last year and admitted speeding on September 25 last year.

Glen White, 34, of Shelley Avenue, Easington Lane, received three penalty points and was fined £150, ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £300 costs after he was found guilty of driving in a position where he did not have full control of a vehicle on July 15 last year.

Anthony Hall, 27, of Seaham Road, Houghton, was banned from driving for two years and ordered to pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 court costs after admitting two counts of driving while disqualified and without insurance on September 18 and October 2 last year.

Karl Anthony Phan, 34, of Station Road, Penshaw, was banned from driving for three years, fined £846, ordered to pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 court costs after admitting failing to provide a specimen for a breath test on March 7.

David Brown, 29, of Avenue Vivian, Fencehouses, received a community order, was ordered to pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 court costs after admitting causing criminal damage to a mobile phone on June 24.
