Assaulting a police officer and damaging a Mercedes - the latest Sunderland court cases

The following cases from the Sunderland area have been dealt with recently at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court:

Desta Othinel Ross, 24, of Mill Street, Sunderland, was banned from driving for six months, fined £150 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting driving without any insurance in South Shields on March 18.

Neil McKenzie, 52, of Murton Street, Sunderland, was placed on a six-month 7pm-7am curfew as part of a community order and was ordered to pay £300 compensation, a £90 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting two assaults and assaulting a police officer at South Tyneside District Hospital on June 28 last year.

Megan Shaw, 20, of no fixed address, was ordered to pay £400 compensation, complete 150 unpaid work as part of a community order and to pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting two counts of causing harassment in Sunderland between May 1-17.

Jake Gerry Jiancarlo Galea-Hughes, 25, of Whitefield Cottages, Penshaw, was banned from driving for a year, fined £337 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £620 costs after admitting drug driving on November 6 last year.

Anthony John Gallon, 20, of no fixed address, was fined £80 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £40 costs after admitting breaching a restraining order on September 26.

Andrew Joseph Maddison, 36, of Earl Street, Millfield, Sunderland, was fined £80 and ordered to pay £100 compensation, a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting causing criminal damage to a Mercedes car on September 27.

Steven Derek Clark, 39, of Hallfield Drive, Sunderland, received a 12-month conditional discharge, was fined £40 and ordered to pay a £22 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting sending a malicious communication and breaching a suspended sentence on August 29.
