Andrew Mather murder investigation prompts police search near Silksworth Sports Complex and Ski Slope

Northumbria Police launched a search at an area near Silksworth Sports Complex and Ski Slope as an investigation continues into the murder of Sunderland dad Andrew Mather.

The force confirmed that its officers carried out inquiries in an area around the Silksworth Ski Slope in Sunderland on Saturday, September 12.

Mr Mather, who was 48, was found dead by emergency services at a property, in Aintree Road, Sunderland, on Wednesday, June 3.

A police cordon was in place around the home in Aintree Road for a number of days as an investigation into his death was carried out.

Wayne Miller, 32, of Dene Street, Sunderland, has since been charged with murder and is due to stand trial at Newcastle Crown Court in December.

He remains in custody.
