Coastguard called to assist police in locating missing person in Seaham

Volunteers from the Sunderland Coastguard were called out to help police in their search for a missing person in Seaham.

Rescue teams were called just after 11pm last night, Tuesday, June 16 to reports of a missing person in the Seaham area.

Sunderland Coastguard assisted Durham Constabulary to help locate the person.

Working alongside Hartlepool Coastguard Rescue Team and Sunderland RNLI, the Sunderland team carried out a search between Ryhope Dene and Noses Point before the casualty was located safe and well outside the search area by police officers.

Motorcyclist taken to hospital following crash as police appeal for witnesses

Volunteers from both the coastguard and Sunderland RNLI located the man and he was recovered onto a lifeboat before being taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Rescue teams urge anyone in a coastal emergency to call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
