Cleadon - Down Your Way

The PCC for All Saints' Church meets tomorrow in the Chapter House at 7.30pm.

The coffee morning on Saturday will be held in Cleadon Methodist Church hall from 10am to noon. Organised by the Ladies’ Tuesday Group, the proceeds are in aid of Women’s Cancer Detection Society at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, this year’s District President’s project for the Methodist Women in Britain. There will be a cake stall and a raffle and plenty of coffee or tea, scones and chat. Come along and support this worthy cause.

On Sunday, Oasis, a different style of worship for those needing just a little quiet time before the busy week begins, meets in the Old Schoolroom, next to All Saints’ parish hall, at 4pm. The theme this month is “Love is …” Everyone is welcome to go along, enjoy tea and cake and join in with this complete form of refreshment.

On Sunday at 7pm in All Saints’ parish hall, people are invited to have coffee and cake and to see the film, Les Miserables, which will be the basis of this year’s Lent Course, Another Story Must Begin, which begins on Tuesday or Wednesday, February 23/24.

On Monday, New Cleadon WI will meet in Cleadon Methodist Church hall at 7pm. This month, Philip Curtis will be speaking about The 1960s and the competition will be a photo of yourself in the 1960s followed by a quiz. New members are always welcomed.

Next Tuesday, February 9, Cleadon WI will meet at 6.30pm in All Saints’ parish hall.

Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. There will be a circuit Communion Service in Cleadon Methodist Church at 10am followed by tea or coffee. There will also be an Ash Wednesday service at All Saints’ Church at 7.30pm.

Preparations are in hand for a Paddy’s Market, to be held on Friday, February 26, from 10am in All Saints’ parish hall. There will be second-hand clothes, children’s items and toys, bric-a-brac, books, etc. Come along and have a browse.

Dokan Karate Classes are available in All Saints’ parish hall on Thursdays from 5pm to 6pm for juniors and 7pm to 8pm for adults. Contact 07939130411 for more information.

All Saints’ Church hosts soup and roll lunches every Tuesday from 11.45am to 1.15pm. For £3 you will be served hot homemade soup with a roll followed by tea or coffee with homemade cake. Come along and try it. You will meet friends and have lots of people to chat with.

French classes for primary children, aged five to 11, will take place in All Saints’ Parish Church, Sunderland Road, Cleadon. Every Wednesday during term-time from 4.30pm commencing February 24.
