Cleadon - Down Your Way

On Saturday, at 4pm there is a board games get-together in the Old Schoolroom, next to All Saints' parish hall, for anyone with a bit of a competitive streak. Bring a game, (board, card, dice or similar), and something to eat for a shared tea and enjoy an afternoon of friendly rivalry.

There will be a coffee morning in the community room on Front Street on Saturday from 10am to noon in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The group makes everyone welcome in their snug venue, and there are always craft items for sale.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday sees the start of this year’s Lent course at All Saints’ Church. Based on the film Les Miserables, shown on February 7, the course is entitled Another Story Must Begin. Meetings take place in the Chapter House at 1.30pm on Tuesday and 7.30pm on Wednesday. Lent is a perfect time to learn more about faith.

On Saturday, February 27, Cleadon Methodist Church is holding an afternoon tea and Bible auction in aid of church funds. Slimming World now holds two classes in All Saints’ parish hall on Thursdays at 9.30am and at 11.30am.

All Saints’ Church hosts regular community events with a coffee pop-in every week day from 10am to noon, when you can come to the Old Schoolroom for a hot beverage and snack and meet other people. On Tuesdays, in the parish hall, there is a soup and roll lunch, when homemade soup with a roll followed by tea or coffee and homemade cake is served for £3 and many agree that one of the most popular ingredients is the social atmosphere. There is also a day club, every Friday from 11.30am, when people can meet for coffee and a chat, followed by a home-cooked two-course meal for £5. All are welcome.
