Cleadon - Down Your Way

The second session of Another Story Must Begin, which is the theme of this year's Lent course, takes place at 1.30pm today and at 7.30pm tomorrow in All Saints' Church Chapter House. All are welcome to come along to explore faith through material drawn from the musical film Les Miserables.

The musical Dance Across the Tyne is showing at the Customs House in South Shields from today until Saturday. The music is by Grahame Wright, of Cleadon Village. The show is well worth a visit.

On Saturday, the coffee morning in Cleadon Methodist Church hall from 10am until noon will be in aid of church funds.

Sunday is Mothering Sunday, and the Oasis Group will meet in the Old Schoolroom at 4pm. There will be tea, coffee and cake, and an exploration of this special day through activity and talk. Everyone is welcome to attend. It gives an opportunity to wind down in preparation for the week of work ahead.

Cleadon WI meets in All Saints’ parish hall next Tuesday, March 8, at 6.30pm.

On Saturday, March 12, there will be a 1940s themed afternoon tea in Cleadon Methodist Church hall from 3pm until 5pm in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society. Some stunning raffle prizes are promised and the tickets are £5. All are dared to come in vintage dress, but come along anyway and enjoy an afternoon to support this worthy cause.

The Dokan Karate Club meets in All Saints’ parish hall on Thursdays from 5pm until 6pm for juniors and from 7pm until 8pm for adults. If you would like to begin or continue this sport, ring 07939130411 for further information.

Lingo Kids language classes for children holds a French class in the Old Schoolroom, next to the parish hall, every Wednesday in term-time. The youngest children begin at 4.40pm and the older pupils at 6.30pm. Newcomers can join at any time. All classes are small with lots of fun activities, helping to provide a solid grounding and promote a love of the language from an early age. Sunderland College offers a free programme for anyone wishing to work with children. The course will develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed for a career in childcare, health care or education. The programme begins in April and involves one day per week for 10 weeks.
