Cleadon Village History Society meets tonight in the Old Schoolroom, next to All Saints' parish hall, at 7.15pm. The speaker will be Craig Fitzakerly with his Grand Designs III.

Lee Robson and Cassie only started karate a few weeks ago and are thoroughly enjoying training at St Mark’s and St Cuthbert’s Karate Club, which they recently represented in the NKA competition. Everyone was very proud of them. For more information about the club, contact Rebecca on 07979538992.

Jarrow with Harton Rotary Club is hosting a pie and peas supper tonight at 7pm in All Saints’ parish hall. There will be a raffle and entertainment by the Beacon Band. Tickets are £6 from 5362879.

Another Story Must Begin, the theme for this year’s Lent course, reaches its conclusion today at 1.30pm and tomorrow at 7.30pm in the Chapter House, next to All Saints’ Church. The course has been exploring faith through the musical film Les Miserables.

Easter cards from All Saints’ Church and Cleadon Methodist Church have been delivered to all houses throughout the village. The design for the cards was provided by one of the members of the Wednesday Art Group, which meets in Cleadon each week.

Thursday is Maundy Thursday. There will be a joint service with East Boldon Methodist Church at Cleadon Methodist Church at 7.30pm, led by the Rev Marie Beard. The service at All Saints’ Church will take the form of a meal in the parish hall at 7pm.

On Good Friday, there will be an Oasis Extra in All Saints’ parish hall at 10am with activities for all. The Procession of Witness will leave Cleadon Methodist Church at noon. At 1pm a soup lunch will be served in All Saints’ parish hall, followed by a service, the Last Hour at the Cross, at 2pm in All Saints’ Church.

On Easter Day there will be a service of Holy Communion at 8am and an all age Eucharist at 10am in All Saints’ Church. Cleadon Methodist Church will have morning worship with Holy Communion at 10.45am.

Compass Acapella with Tyneside Acapella will be giving a concert in All Saints’ parish hall on Tuesday, April 5, at 7.30pm. The two groups will bring a programme of well known tunes sung in close harmony. Tickets are £5, which includes refreshments and are available by ringing 5363346. Compass Acapella rehearses weekly in Cleadon Village Primary Academy in Boldon Lane and welcomes new male singers.

Cleadon Village Drama Club’s next production is Audacity by Simon Mawdsley, which runs from April 11 to 16 in The Little Theatre in Boldon Lane at 7.30pm each evening. The play is a comedy thriller which follows the fortunes of three hapless and inexperienced robbers trying to make a quick return. However, they have much to deal with, including wives, so there are plenty of entertaining twists.

Lingo Kids is a language class for children held in the Old Schoolroom, next to All Saints’ parish hall, on Wednesdays in term-time. French and Spanish is taught at different levels from reception to Year 6. Classes are all small and there are suitable activities to help the development of communication skills and cultural awareness.
