Cleadon - Down Your Way

Cleadon Village History Society meets tonight in the Old Schoolroom, next to All Saints' parish hall, at 7.15pm when Peter Hoy is returning with the second part to his talk in January about the Gallipoli campaign. Also the group's annual dinner takes place tomorrow at South Tyneside College.

The lunch club is open on Friday in All Saints’ parish hall. There is coffee available from 11am when you can get together with friends for a chat and lunch is served at noon with a delicious two-course meal, all for £5. Transport can be arranged but a call to 5190582 would be appreciated to help with catering.

Oasis, the café church of All Saints’, is on Sunday at 4pm in the Old Schoolroom. Coffee or tea with cake is on the menu with discussion and activities to suit all comers. This is a different form of worship which helps you wind down ready for the week to come.

The Dokan Karate Club meets in All Saints’ parish hall on Thursdays at 5pm for juniors and 7pm for adults. The club does well in national and international competitions and information is available by ringing 079391411.

A Weight Watchers class meets on Mondays in Cleadon Village Primary Academy in Boldon Lane at 6-30pm.

Lingo Kids is a class in French and Spanish, which takes place in the Old Schoolroom on Wednesdays in term time. The classes are small with children grouped according to age. They enjoy fun activities which help develop their communication skills and cultural awareness. It also promotes a love of languages which will stand them in good stead for the future.For more information, ring 07454383249.

Early in May, the red envelope for the annual Christian Aid house to house collection will be dropping through your letter box and in the week beginning May 15 a collector will collect your gifts.
