Cleadon - Down Your Way
The Bede’s Way Sponsored Walk takes place on Saturday, leaving St Paul’s Church in Jarrow at 10am and following the 12-mile route with glimpses into the cultural heritage and the varied landscape between the Tyne and the Wear. The walk finishes at St Peter’s Church in Monkwearmouth at about 4pm, with a stop on Cleadon Hills, by the mill, for refreshments and a short talk. You can still register to take part in the walk, or opt for the family four-mile circular walk from St Peter’s Church in Monkwearmouth around the Roker seafront. Both walks end at about 4pm with an optional Pilgrim’s Service in St Peter’s Church. The walk is to raise funds for Christian Aid and to raise awareness of the poverty still suffered in other parts of the world which we can help to alleviate by taking part or by sponsoring someone else to do the walking.
Cleadon Village History Society meets next Tuesday, June 2, for its annual general meeting at 7.15pm in the Old Schoolroom, next to All Saints’ parish hall.
