Child hit by van in Seaham street - emergency services are at the scene

A child has been hit by a van in Seaham, with police officers and paramedics called to his aid.

Emergency services are at the scene of the crash, which involves a boy and a Ford Transit van, in Princess Road, Seaham.

Durham Constabulary confirmed to the Echo it was called at 9.40am on Wednesday, February 19.

An ambulance also attended the scene and the boy has been taken to hospital.

The severity of his injuries are not yet known.

The road was cordoned off to traffic while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A spokesman for North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called to Princess Road, in Seaham, at 9.43am where a child had been hit by a vehicle.

“We dispatched a rapid response paramedics and the child was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital accident and emergency department.”
