Carol's a gem of a consultant

 She has received the Diamond Award for her efforts to help people in Roker, Sunderland, to lose weight.

 Carol has been running the Roker Slimming World group at the Christian Fellowship on Fulwell Road for 12 months and has collected her award from Slimming World for inspiring dozens of people to start losing weight and improve their health.

 The accolade means Carol, who lost 2.5 stone with Slimming World herself, becomes a Diamond Consultant. The award is given to all consultants who welcome 60 new members to their group in one month.

 She says: “This award means so much to mes especially in Roker, which is where my family ran its coach company for many years.

 “Carneys Coaches had its garage in Roker Avenue and it is where I had my first job after leaving school, so to have come full circle and have my own group a stone’s throw from my original family business gives me such a sense of pride and belonging.

 “Slimming World has more than 4,000 consultants and there is a league table for doing what we do best, supporting members to lose weight and I’m over the moon to say that I’m at number 43 on the list and that’s just for doing the job I love.”

 Carol’s Roker group doubled in size last year and she’s also had to add an extra session to the group she runs in Cleadon.

  The Roker group, meets every Thursday at 5.30pm and 7.30pm at the ChristianFellowship on Fulwell Road.
