The Mail reported on Saturday that 19-year-old Jamie Gaines was subjected to a horrific hammer attack after four masked men burst into his home, in Cumbrian Way, Peterlee.

The gang made off with Nike and Adidas trainers and perfume before fleeing in Jamie’s mum Marie’s red Renault Scenic car.

Marie has since been told by police, her car had been found and she hopes it could be the key to catching those responsible for the raid, around 8pm on November 8.

She said: “The police said they found my car in West Rainton. I hope there might be evidence in the car.”

Anyone with information about the raid should call Seaham crime team on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
