Car left on its side following crash in Sunderland street
A driver had to be rescued after the car they were in ended up on its side.
The accident happened when a Citroen Berlingo and a Mazda MX5 collided in Elmwood Avenue in the Marley Pots area of Sunderland just after 10.30am today.
The Citroen ended up on its side.
Fire crews from Marley Park and Farringdon stations rushed to the scene.
The Citroen driver was assessed by paramedics before being helped out of the car by officers.
The driver of the Mazda got out of the car prior to the arrival of the fire service.
Neither person suffered serious injuries in the incident.
