Car dealership plan for former Sunderland Morrisons site

Car firm SG Petch aims to give the vacant former Morrisons store off Wessington Way, Sunderland, a new lease of life as a car showroom and garage.

Proposals include changing the use of the building with demolition works, extensions and a full refurbishment.

A planning application, submitted to Sunderland City Council, says the site could create 15 full-time jobs

A design and access statement adds: “It’s considered that this application will seek to improve the existing landscape to create a sympathetic design which is in keeping with the surrounding area.”

SG Petch aims to use the Sunderland site for the sale, display and repair of motor vehicles.

Public comments can be submitted on the plans before Wednesday, March 13 with a final decision expected in April.
