The Botanist, in Monument Mall, Newcastle, is one of nine bars working together in an attempt to take the title for the largest gin tasting held across multiple sites.

The effort, masterminded by The New World Trading Company (NWTC), which owns The Botanist and The Trading House locations taking part, will also include venues in Glasgow, London and Manchester.

On February 11, punters at bars across the country will say "cheers" and do their best to bring the record home. The event is sponsored by Tanqueray 10, Whitley Neill, Caorunn Gin and Fever Tree tonic.

From 6pm on the night, there will be more than 100 people at each site sampling three gins from each sponsor. A huge gin party will take place afterwards to celebrate - and you could be there, as there are a number of free tickets available.

Chris Hill, NWTC Managing Director, said: “We’ve already broken Guinness World Records titles for ale tastings and for the largest collection of rums commercially available, so with the recent addition of our ‘perfect serve’ gins to our menus we only felt it right to follow this up with a gin-themed world record attempt.

"We’re all incredibly excited at the opportunity to run this across nine of our sites simultaneously and are thrilled customers can be a part of it with us.”
