Business has Wearside office crowned as one of North East's best

The firm’s recently refurbished Hylton Riverside head office has been recognised at the annual British Council for Offices (BCO) regional property sector awards.

Berghaus shared the Best Fit Out of Workplace category with the Stockton-based Thirteen Group.

The judges praised Berghaus for its success in taking an old and tired environment and transforming it into an aspirational headquarters for its workforce.

Removing ceilings and exposing concrete has opened up the space and its views across the River Wear, allowing light into the open plan workspaces.

Judging chairman Andrew Woodhouse said: “Entries were judged on a range of different factors including flexibility, sustainable construction, architectural flair and above all their effectiveness as a workplace.”
