The firm has become a category sponsor in the annual awards which look to reward outstanding people across Wearside.

This year Calsonic Kansei, a global automotive firm, said it is supporting the Community Group accolade to celebrate the unsung heroes in our neighbourhoods.

Victoria Manghan, section leader – human resources said: “At Calsonic Kansei we have a clear, corporate social responsibility vision.

“Our mission is to become an honest and trusting company, striving to create a rewarding workplace. We also want to develop our employees’ awareness of social issues and support them in contributing to the society around us.

“It is for this reason that CK have chosen to sponsor the Community award in 2018’s Best of Wearside awards.”

Victoria praised the awards for celebrating “the people in our local communities whose hard work and positivity make a real difference to the lives of others.

“These are the unsung heroes, whose contributions help to make the Sunderland area all that it is, and all that we are so proud of.

“On Wearside we are known for our kindness, openness and tenacity in often difficult circumstances.
