Burying our future

I'm well into my 70s. Born during the Second World War, I was proud of our nation's global achievements and leading role in saving the world's democracy.

But that pride began to wane by the 1960s as liberalism and political correctness engulfed our nation. While liberalism promoted all of human natures’ perversions, the exponents of the liberal society actually used anti liberalists political bias to stifle any debate, resulting in a cultural wasteland.

Our cars, motor cycles, aircraft and shipbuilding were the envy of the world. Then unions decided they wanted to run Britain’s industry but accepted no responsibility for their part in its demise. Thanks to candy floss politicians from the middle of the 20th century to the present day, Britain is no longer ‘Great’, yet throughout this period we have been a member of the European Union.

Though I won’t be around to witness the future results of a EU referendum, it’s with disbelief I listen to the EU luvvies spouting off how a nation with our history and cultural heritage will be put to sleep if we vote to leave.

Ever since 2010 the Left has squawked about cuts and austerity measures imposed by the Tories, yet Labour is a devotee of the EU but never a squeak from its mouth about the cuts and austerity measures imposed by the EU on continental Europe.

If Labour had retained power in 2010, with its liberal attitude to taxpayers’ money and fairy tale benefit system, we’d be facing the same financial ruin as Greece.

Now we have the pro EU big wigs forecasting doom and gloom if we vote to leave. In 2008 we had the worst financial crisis in history, no one saw it coming, where, I ask, were those forecasting wizards then?

Our defence mandarins warn our security will be jeopardised if we leave the EU. Again my old brain tells me it’s the EU’s liberal approach to our borders that’s creating security problems. Furthermore, if the heads of MI5 and MI6 are not up to the job of maintaining the security of a small island, I suggest they stand down and let someone more competent do the job.

As I pointed out at the beginning it’s about belief and pride in your country and what it stands for or stood for in the past.

But I’m afraid we are in danger of burying our history and pride under a building in some foreign land never to see the light of day again.
