Burst water main causes Wearside road closure
A burst water main and carriageway damage has forced the closure of the A182 Philadelphia Lane.
The road has been closed in the vicinity of Voltage Terrace and due to the unforeseen nature of the burst there was no time to forewarn residents and other road users.
Northumbria Water and BT Openreach are currently working at the scene. Interested parties will be updated on progress and possible reopening of the road, when further information about the extent of the damage becomes available.
A diversion route will be put into place, using, Success Road/Golf Course Road/Coaley Lane and vice-versa.
