Burnikell, James and Dowell lead The Victory to success

The Victory are celebrating after claiming a well-earned 4-1 win over Seaham Conservatives A in the Danby Autos Sunderland Snooker League

Les Burnikell got The Victory off to a winning start before Gary Stockton levelled the match in the next frame.

A 22-break helped Ray James move The Victory into the lead, beating Michael Monaghan, before Darren Dowell won the fourth frame against Paul Lauder.

In the pairs frame, a 32-break by Dowell, when paired with James, helped clinch the frame against William Cowell/Monaghan 73-56 for an excellent 4-1 win.

South Hylton B travelled to Biddick B and started well with Ian Stewart winning the first frame, but a 46-break saw Philip Mills level the match.

John Temple moved Biddick into the lead, before Tommy Rutter won a close fourth frame against John Harrison.

In the pairs, Philip Straughan, when paired with Mills, won Biddick the frame against Bobby Boyce/Tony Hazard 72-17 for the 4-1 win.

Glendale welcomed Mill View and got off to the perfect start, thanks to Thomas Gwyn and John Danby.

John Wiseman beat John Spruce before Steve Chandler pulled one back for Mill View.

In the pairs frame, Frank McParlin/Paul Atkinson beat Spruce/Chandler 72-16 to claim a 4-1 win for Glendale.

Neil Lowden, Brian Meuse and Sean Henderson put Lumley in total control against Murton Officials.

Eddie Williamson pulled one back for Murton, before Meuse/Henderson clinched the pairs frame against Stephen Clementson/Williamson, for the 4-1 win.

Colin Dobson got Seaham Conservatives B off to an excellent start at home to Pennywell Comrades A.

Harland Davidson increased the lead before Manna Singh had an excellent win against Dean Taylor.

Stuart Taylor pulled one back for Pennywell, before Robin Midson/Doug Scott won the pairs beating Steve O’Wellen/Taylor 53-24 for an excellent 4-1 win.

Steels had a good 4-1 away to Pennywell Comrades B, but no scorecard has been provided, seeing Pennywell docked two points.

South Hylton A postponed their match against Boldon CA due to a shortage of players.

Congratulations go to South Hylton A’s Graham Rutland and Adam Smith, who won the final of the Doubles, beating team-mates Gavin Dixon and Steven Thompson 3-2 in an exciting match.
