Boldon - Down Your Way

Congratulations to Darren Stuart, owner of Tribeca Hair Salon in East Boldon. Darren was given the honour of being invited to the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in May in recognition of his work as a co-founder and Trustee of the Mynewhair charity, which is the pioneering charity founded and inspired by Trevor Sorbie. This charity helps to support people suffering from medical hair loss. Through a network of independent salons and professionals they provide a wig styling service and hair care for people suffering from cancer and medical hair loss. Darren is a lead educator in a training programme which presents seminars for hair professionals and following completion, these professionals become part of a specialist salon network '“ Salons that Care.

Recently a new initiative has been launched in conjunction with lead cancer centres enabling patients to access the service of trained hairdressers in the network. There has been an overall increase in client referrals since the partnership with Cancer Care and Darren himself helps around 20 Mynewhair clients a week at his salon in East Boldon. In 2009 he was honoured by the Fellowship of British Hairdressing for driving this charity forward to what it has become today with focus on taking the service and training worldwide with the support of leading haircare manufacturers.
