Boldon - Down Your Way

Virginia and Graham Ramsay flew in from New Zealand on a family holiday at the end of May and got stuck in to some community gardening in West Boldon Village. Various members of the community continue to try to regularly maintain beds and borders in and around the village, clear litter and sweep pavements even though the village is no longer entered into the Northumbria in Bloom competition. The village won a silver and two golds in 2010, 2011, 2012 but were not able to continue participating due to health and age problems and lack of further support. Thanks to this enthusiastic environmentally friendly Kiwi couple the bed on the corner of Hylton Lane in the middle of West Boldon is absolutely blooming.
