Boldon - Down Your Way

During summer term all Year 6 pupils at Hedworth Lane Primary School in Boldon Colliery are encouraged to visit Thurston, the local Authority Outdoor Education Centre on the banks of Lake Coniston in Cumbria. This year pupils were joined by a few Year 5 children and their teachers. Even head teacher Tony Gill made an appearance. They all had the time of their lives.

Congratulations to two students at Boldon School, Sofie Lincoln and Gabrielle Evans, pictured, who recently went to the Gymnastics World Championships in China and won Gold medals for their performance as part of a trio. The girls, who represent South Tyneside Gymnastics Centre, train for an outstanding 24 hours a week as a trio. They were scouted for Team GB and only four trios were selected for trials for China from the entire country. Due to their hard work and determination they were selected to represent Great Britain as Team GB. Following their epic journey and rigorous training schedule the trio competed over two days. After their victory their coach commented that their training had ‘left no stone unturned’. Boldon School is very proud of the girls’ achievements and humbled to have two World Champions in their school.’
