Body found after emergency services called to Sunderland back lane

The body of the woman, who was in her 40s, was discovered in the back lane of Carley Road, Southwick on Sunday morning.

Police and paramedics had been called to the scene after being alerted to concern for a woman.

The woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "At 8.52am on Sunday, August 7, police received a report of concern for a woman in a back lane of Carley Road in Sunderland.

"Police and paramedics attended and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"There is no third party involvement and a report will be prepared for the coroner."
