A DVD presentation of the history of St Peter’s Church, Monkwearmouth, will be presented to members of Sunderland Men’s Probus Club at their meeting in Ashbrooke Sports Pavilion on Wednesday, February 24, at 10.30am. Visitors are welcome, no charge.

Sunderland Theatre Company is preparing for its next production, which is Sunshine On Leith, a feel good show featuring the songs of The Proclaimers. The show is being staged at Bede College of Performing Arts, Durham Road from March 2 to 5. Performances are 7.15pm Wednesday to Friday, and 4pm Saturday. Sunderland Floral Art Club will hold its AGM and lunch on Tuesday, February 23 in the Lounge Restaurant at Hylton College Campus. The meeting begins at 11am.

Outlook, a relaxed midweek servic, will be held at St Gabriel’s Church on Monday, February 22, from 2pm to 3pm. This is a short, informal service followed by refreshments and a chat.

A pancake and coffee morning will be held at Burn Park Methodist Church on Saturday from 10am to noon. Call in for a cuppa and a pancake.

Cake decorating and sugarcraft classes are held at St Luke’s Neighbourhood Centre, Pallion, on Fridays from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. Free to people on benefits. Entrance is to the rear of the church. For more information ring 07584026782.

Women’s World Day of Prayer will be held on Friday, March 4, at 2pm in The Salvation Army, Roker Avenue.

If you are wanting to work some of those extra pounds, why not go along to bowls or badminton or table tennis at Ewesley Road Methodist Church? Both sessions are very leisurely, with a cuppa and a biscuit half way through. It costs £1 per session and you can be assured of a really good night. The bowls session is on a Monday from 7pm to 9pm with the badminton and table tennis session on a Friday from 7pm to 9pm.

On Saturday, February 27, tea and bingo will be held at St Mary Magdalene’s Parish Centre, Wilson street. This event starts at 1.30pm.

Sunderland Ladies’ Probus Club will meet on Thursday, February 25, in St John’s Church, Ashbrooke, when Elaine Harbron vists with her talk Community IT. Coffee is served at 10am and the meeting begins at 10.30am.

A Lent Lunch will take place at St Nicholas Church Haver Hall on Saturday at 12.30pm. The cost is £3 to include a choice of soup, bread, homemade cake and tea or coffee. Everyone is welcome. Half the money raised will go towards a chosen charity, and half to church funds.
