The Vintage and Craft Fair at Sunderland Minster. There were a variety of stalls selling hand-crafted items. This event is held on the first Saturday of each month. The next one will be on Saturday from 10am-3pm. Refreshments are available.

On Saturday, March 19, from 10am-noon an Easter coffee morning will be held at Burn Park Methodist Church. Bacon and sausage sandwiches are on the menu, along with the coffee, and there will be stalls.

Deptford and Millfield Community Association Junior Dancing Drama Group will be performing Babes In Toyland on Saturday. There will be two shows, one at 3.30pm and one at 6.30pm. Sunderland Floral Art Club meets in The Royalty Theatre on Tuesday, March 15, at 2pm. On this occasion the guest demonstrator will be Heather Curry and the title of her demonstration is A Basket Case

Ewesley Road WI will meet in The Enid Dagg Room of the church tomorrow when for its AGM. Stall will be CDs and DVDs and the competition box or tin.

A coffee morning will be held in the JB Hall of St Luke’s Neighbourhood Centre, Pallion, on Saturday at 10am. There will also a bric-a-brac stall.

A table-top sale raising funds for local charities takes place on Saturday at 2pm in St Gabriel’s Church hall. There will be lots of books, household items, and clothes. Refreshments will also be available.

All budgerigar fanciers are invited to attend the next meeting of The Sunderland Budgerigar Society which takes place tomorrow at 7.30pm. The society has an exciting programme of speakers lined up for this year. The format of the meeting is a short time spent on the business and most of the night devoted to the evening’s talk. The speaker on this occasion is Ady Lovack, an experienced breeder and exhibitor. All meetings are held in Deptford and Millfield Community Centre, Havelock Towers, 88 Hylton Road, on the first Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm. Messy Church will be held at St Gabriel’s Church on Wednesday, March 9. Why not go along with your family and friends on the second Wednesday of every month in the underchurch at 3.30p.m

The next Eden Vale Residents’ Association meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 15, from 6.30pm-8pm in Richard Avenue Primary School.

Sunderland Cardiac Support Group monthly meeting takes place on Thursday, March 10, at 6.45pm in The Education Centre, Sunderland Royal Hospital. Guests are The Canny Folk, musical entertainment.

A coffee moring will be held at St Gabriel’s Church on Saturday, March 12, from 10.30am-noon in aid of church funds. Coffee and a scone will be £1. There will also be a cake stall and raffle.

On Wednesdays at Deptford and Millfield CA there is a children’s dance class at 4.30pm. Lessons are taught tap, modern, ballet, acro, drama, freestyle, stretch. Pop in on a Wednesday to view classes. Children can go in displays, pantomimes, and competitions.

Exercise classes have started at St Mary and St Peter’s Church, Springwell Road, on Mondays from 6.30pm-7.30pm. All abilities are welcome and sessions cost £5. Also on Mondays there is musical theatre class from 5.30pm-6.30pm for ages nine to 18. Spaces are available for keen singers and dancers. Contact Susan on 07834538503.

Sunderland Theatre Group has a section at Deptford and Millfield CA. If you interested in singing and drama and are an adult the sessions are held from 8pm-10pm.

Sunderland Arthritis Care group will hold its AGM in The Education Centre, Sunderland Royal Hospital, tomorrow from 6pm-8pm.

Geraldine will visit Ewesley Road Ladies’ Fellowship tomorrow at 7.30pm and she will talk on The History of Beamish.

A Lent lunch will take place at St Nicholas Church, Haver Hall, on Saturday at 12.30pm. The cost is £3 to include choice of soup, bread, homemade cake and tea or coffee. Everyone is welcome. Half the money raised will go towards a chosen charity and half to church funds

Sunderland College is offering a new free programme suitable for those wishing to work with children in a varietyof settings and is designed to enhance work and life skills. If you are interested in child development and well being this course is an ideal starting point. The course is one day per week for 10 weeks from 10am-2p. and the start date is April 15. Sunderland Theatre Company is preparing for its next production, which is Sunshine On Leith, a feel good show featuring the songs of The Proclaimers. The show is being staged at Bede College of Performing Arts, Durham Road, from tomorrow until Saturday at 7.15pm but at 4pm Saturday.
