An Easter event is being held at St Luke’s Neighbourhood Centre, Pallion, on Saturday, March 26, from 10am-3pm There will be an adult and child Easter bonnet competition, with a prize for both sections as well as Spot The Bunny and Chicks in the shop windows competition. Entries available from the shops on Pallion shopping terrace. During this event there will also be a table-top sale ,£7 per table for sellers.

The Road To The White House is the title of a talk by Donald Wood to members of Sunderland Men’s Probus Club at their meeting in Ashbrooke Sports Pavilion on Wednesday, March 23, at 10.30am.

On Saturday, an Easter coffee morning will be held at Burn Park Methodist Church from 10am-noon. Bacon and sausage sandwiches will be avilable.

Ewesley Road Ladies’ Fellowship meets tomorrow at 7.30pm, when members welcome Margaret Hedley. The title of Margaret’s talk is Victorian Pit Women.

Sunderland Ladies’ Probus Club meets in St John’s Church, Ashbrooke, on Thursday March 24. Professor John Derry will talk about The Little Corporal. Coffee is at 10am and the meeting begins at 10.30am.

Sunderland Aglow meets in The Rosedene tomorrow at 7pm, when the speaker will be Julia Soakell on Christian Friends of Israel. Cost is £9. Bookings to Ardyn on 0191 5285953 or 07716956729.

On Saturday, April 23, from 7pm-9pm, St Gabriel’s Church will welcome Compass Acapella. Tickets are £4 and must be bought before the event, available from the church office on 5142397.

Eden Vale Residents’ Association meeting is today from 6.30pm-8pm at Richard Avenue Primary School.

Maundy Thursday at 6.30pm there will be Agape at St Gabriel’s Church, following its long established custom of having an Agape. A service of Holy Communion set around a shared meal. Tickets are £4, from the church bookstall.

A Lent lunch takes place at St Nicholas Church Haver Hall on Saturday at 12.20pm. For £3 you can have a choice of soup, bread, homemade cake and tea or coffee. All proceeds to be divided between church funds and a chosen charity.

On Saturday at 2pm there will be tea and bingo at The Church of The Good Shepherd, Forest Road.

St Mark’s CA is looking to start a few new groups during the daytime. Any small groups or set of friends who would like to go into the centre, once a week, to play carpet bowls, pool, dominoes, darts or just a coffee morning. It would be all free including tea or coffee. Also the new community fitness room is now open, £5 per year membership and £1 per session. Details can be found on the website, www.stmarksca.co.uk

The next Millfield Residents’ Association meeting will be held today at 7pm at St Mark’s Community Centre, St Mark’s Terrace, Millfield. A PACT Meeting will precede this meeting at 6.30pm. Ward surgeries are held onthe first Tuesday of the month from 10.30am-11.30am Residents Room, Astral House, City Centre Residents; second Saturday of the month from 11am-noon in the back room, St Marks; third Thursday of the month from 5.30pm-6.30pm at St Mary Magdalene’s Parish Centre, Wilson Street; fourth Wednesday of the month from 2pm-3pm at Sunderland Central Fire Station.

On Thursday at 7.30pm a 1960s night will be held in aid of The Church of The Good Shepherd . The venue is RAOB Club, Wilson Street. Tickets are £3.
