Jackie went along to the Easter event at St Luke's Neighbourhood Centre and won first prize for her Easter bonnet. Her prize was a hamper. There was lots going on at the event including a visit from Roland the owl, who proved very popular with the younger visitors.

Lilianna Gierduszewska nine, is very proud to have achieved her black belt award from David Jenkinson, NAKMAS Governing Representative. Her instructor Rebecca Potts said she deserves her black belt as she has put so much time and effort into her training and was very impressive at the grading. Her next goal is to help in class teaching and to achieve her 2nd Dan. Lilianna trains at St Nicholas Karate Club on Saturdays. St Nicholas Church Wednesday Brownies are collecting the Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers and would be grateful for any donations of them, which they will share with Messy Church. There is a box at the back of the Church or you are welcome to go along to one of the meetings.

Ewesley Road Ladies’ Fellowship meets tomorrow at 7.30pm. The speaker will be Sharon Vincent and the subject of her talk is First World War Artists.

As part of The Wellness Walking Programme a Health Walk round Barnes Park will take place on Mondays from 1.30pm-2.30pm. Meet outside The Coach House Cafe. They are led by volunteer walk leaders and they are suitable for all ages, fitness levels and abilities.

Burn Park Methodist Church presents a piano recital and afternoorn tea with Alan Bowers on Saturday, April 30, at 2pm. Tickets, £5, are available from church members or call Elma on 5251930

Sunderland Cardiac Support Group will meet on Thursday at 6.45pm in The Education Centre, Sunderland Royal Hospital. Guest will be John Anderson and he brings an illustrated talk titled ‘Climbing And Walking The Mountains’.

Sunderland Branch of Save The Children is holding a fundraising family fun day on Saturday from noon-3pm in The Sunderland Bangladeshi Centre, Tatham Street. There will be stalls and activities suitable for all ages as well as refreshments and food stalls. Entrance is 50p, children free.

At St Gabriel’s Church is holsting a concert on Saturday, April 23, from 7pm-9pm with Compass Acapella. Tickets are £4 and must be bought before the event, available from the church office on 5142397

As part of a series of Organ Recitals at Sunderland Minster, on Saturday Charles Wooler, from Sunderland Minster, will be playing. The event begins at 1pm and lasts 50 minutes, with big screen view. This is one of the biggest organ recital series in the Nort East.

Chairman David Heaton and members of the Sunderland Branch Federation of Master Builders presented a cheque to St Benedict’s Hospice for £1,000 in appreciation of the excellent care Sunderland member Robert Heaton had received. The money was raised at social events and grateful thanks are extended to members and friends for their support.
