Sunderland Floral Art Club left two floral arrangements in the waiting room of the city’s Park Lane bus station as part of National Flower Arranging Day/Lonely Bouquet, which is a worldwide goodwill iniative which sees flowers left in public places for passers by to find and take home. This lovely, simple act of kindness iniative originally dubbed The Lonely Bouquet was the brainchild of young Belgian florist Emily Avenso, who blogged the ideaafter leaving flowers for strangers four years ago. The idea went viral and from humble beginnings it has evolved into a global movemen. This year NAFAS (National Associationof Flower Arrangement Societies), of which Sunderland Floral Art Club is a member, has once again asked its members to join in the simple idea to brighten somebody’s day and spread the joy of flowers.
