Liz and Alison had a stall at Sunderland Minster Vintage and Craft Fayre, which as always was well supported. The monthly event attracts people from all over Sunderland, as well as the surrounding areas, with a rich variety of talented people, bringing their hand crafted items to the show. The next fair will be on Saturday July 2, from 10am to 3pm.

Deptford and Millfield Community Group dancers were very successful in their Dance and Drama Exams.The Northern Counties Dance Teachers’ Association Examiner was Hazel Greenfield. All pupils gained over 90%. There are vacancies in classes if anyone is interested, ring 07944884114 for more details.

At a recent meeting of The Lions Club of Sunderland, they had a talk from Corinne Kilvington who is Artistic Director of Theatre Space NE. This group give performances in the local parks and venues throughout Sunderland. They have recently acquired premises for a studio and are in need of funds to refurbish it and make it suitable for rehearsing and storing their equipment and costumes. It is hoped that other groups will be able to use the studio once it is up and running. The Lions Club then presented Corinne with a cheque for £500.

Sunderland City Council, West Area Committee Councillor’s Funded Project, Road To Rio is a free family fun day at Barnes Park taking place on Saturday, July 2, from 10am to 5pm. It will have a carnival atmosphere and fun activities, including sport, craft, Dr Who Tardis, climbing wall, penalty shoot out, face-painting, stilt walkers, and much more. Listen to music at the bandstand, enjoy the storytellers, try foods from around the world, take a picnic. Parking will be very limited.

Afternoon tea will be served at St Nicholas Church for the summer season. The next one will be on Saturday, July 2, from 3.30pm to 5pm. Sandwiches, scones, cakes and tea or coffee will be on offer. All are welcome.

A summer buffet to celebrate The Queen’s 90th birthday will be held tomorrow from 2.30pm to 5pm at Bethany Church, Bede Tower, for members of The Sunderland Cardiac Support Group members.

Pallion Gospel Hall, Pallion Road, will hold a family service on the last Sunday of the month, followed by tea.

St Joseph’s School, Rutland Street, will be holding a summer fair on Saturday from noon. There will be plants, cakes, barbecue, bouncy castle and netball. Entry for adults is £1, children are free.

Tarantarais a mixed choir comprising of more than 50 enthusiastic singers whose aim is to enjoy performing a very mixed repertoire of music. The choir was formed in 2003 and is a registered charity. Tarantara is regularly invited to perform its concerts to organisations and charities at venues across Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire, helping local charities and communities raise money for good causes. Members visit the North East next month and will perform a concert at Sunderland Minster on Saturday, July 16, at 7.30pm. For tickets, £10 and £8 concessions, ring 0191 5654066.

Eden Vale Residents’ Association is holding its next meeting on Tuesday, July 5, from 6.30pm to 8pm in Richard Avenue Primary School. This is your opportunity to discuss with fellow residents, issues affecting you in the community. The meeting will include a presentation by their Community Helpers and The Speedwatch Team, which will be seeking new volunteers.

St Nicholas Church summer fair will be held on Saturday at 2pm. Entry is £1 for adults and 50p for children to include drink and refreshments. All proceeds are in aid of church funds. Stalls will include, cakes, bottle tombola, bric-a-brac, toys, books, plants, tombola, raffle, face painting, bouncy castle, games, hot dogs, cream teas and tea and coffee. If you can donate anything for the above stalls it would be greatly appreciated and prizes for the raffle, tombola and bottle stall are needed. Items can be taken to the church on Saturday morning.

Sunderland Minster Vinatage and Craft Fayre takes place on Saturday, July 2, from 10am to 3pm. There will be a wide variety of stalls, selling hand craft items, jewellery, cakes, handbags, greetings cards and gift bags. Refreshments will also be available. Entry is 50p for adults and children are free.

Enid Jones will be guest speaker at Ewesley Road Ladies’ Fellowship meeting tomorrow.

St Luke’s Church summer fair will be held on Saturday, July 2, at 2pm in the large hall of the church. Entry is free. There will be tea, coffee, raffle, tombola, bottle stall, bric-a-brac, bathroom stall, jewellery, books and DVDs.

On Saturday, July 2, it will be The Church Of The Good Shepherd summer fair. Stalls and games for all ages and all sorts of prizes.

Tea and bingo will be held at St Mary Magdalene’s Parish Centre, Wilson Street, at 1.30pm.

Deptford and Millfield Community Association will be holding its table-top sale on Saturday at 2.30pm. Stalls will include, tombola, bottle stall, CDs, cake stall, jumble sale, household goods. Then at 4pm there will be bingo. The proceeds are to help buy new curtains for the hall, and lino for the kitchen. Ring 07944884114 for more information.
