Ewesley Road Ladies Fellowship will meet tomorrow, when Margaret Wright (Devotional) will be the guest speaker.

A Christmas coffee morning will be held at The Salvation Army, Rutland Street, on Saturday, November 19, from 10am to noon. Stalls will include sweets, toys, bric-a-brac, cakes, cards and refreshments.

St Gabriel’s Church coffee morning will take place on Saturday, November 12, from 10.30am to noon, in aid of church funds. Coffee and scone is £1. There will also be a cake stall and raffle. Go along and enjoy the fellowship.

Sing starts tomorrow at Ewesley Road Methodist Church. Although seven to 12 year olds are the focus, “Sing” welcomes all ages to join in singing Disney songs including works from The Lion King. Go along at 5pm to register and find out what the future might hold. Adults are also needed to join the team of leaders, mainly to play a pastoral role. Sunderland Cardiac Support Group will meet on Thursday, November 10, at 6.45pm in The Education Centre, Sunderland Royal Hospital. Peter Lodge will provide musical entertainment.

A Christmas market will be held at Bethany City Church on Saturday, November 26, from 11am to 2pm. Items on sale will include craft items, DVDs and toiletries.

Paint A Poppy at Sunderland Minster. Workshops will be held at The Minster tomorrow from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, Thursday, November 10, from 10am to noon and Friday, November 11, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. All are welcome to paint, pray or simply to sit.

Football, a game never far away from Wearside’s newspaper headlines, is the subject of Malcolm Bramley’s talk to a joint meeting of Bishopwearmouth and Sunderland Men’s Probus Clubs in The Ashbrooke Sports Pavilion on Tuesday, November 8, at 10.30am. Visitors, for whom there is no admission charge, will be welcome.

Arthritis Care Sunderland will meet tomorrow in The Education Centre, Sunderland Royal Hospital. Consultant Rheumatologist Dr Coady is the speaker.

The next meeting of The Sunderland Budgerigar Society will take place tomorrow in Deptford and Millfield Community Centre, Havelock Towera, 88 Hylton Road, at 7.30pm. The evening’s speaker will be Phil McHale, of Teeside. All budgerigar fanciers, including those who may wish to consider starting the breeding hobby, are welcome. The meetings are very informal.

The Salvation Army, Rutland Street, will be holding a Community Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday from 10am to 1pm.

Barbara Priestman Academy will be holding its Christmas fair on Saturday, November 26, from 11am. Santa will be there and stalls will include books, toys, tombola, cakes, cards and bric-a-brac. A football signed by the Sunderland team and other items will be up for auction

On Thursday, Ewesley Road Methodist Church will be holding a Service of Remembering at 7pm. It will be led by The Reverend Paul Cleever-Thorpe and will be a Thanksgiving for those who have lost a loved one. As part of the service there will be the opportunity to light a candle at the front of the church to remember a loved one.

Sunderland Floral Art Club present Tis The Season, a flower demonstration by Pam Alexander, from Morpeth, in The Royalty Theatre on Tuesday, November 15, at 7.15pm. There will be an interval when you can have a pre-ordered coffee or drinks at the bar. Tickets are £5, ring 5227832 or pay at the door.

Sunderland Minster’s Vintage and Craft Fair will take place on Sunday from 10am to 3pm. There are lots of stalls selling craft items, handbags, jewellery, hand crafted greetings cards and gift bags, and plenty Christmas gift ideas. Entry is 50p for adults and children free.

West Karate Club meets in West Community Centre, Chester Road, every Sunday and Monday from 5pm to 6pm. All ages and abilities are welcome. Pop along or ring 07413630303 for details.

Ewesley Road Methodist Church will be holding its Christmas fair on Saturday, November 12, starting at 10am. Entry is free and there will be a large variety of stalls, such as vintage bric-a-brac, home baking, Christmas goods, toys and Rainbow items, also tombola stalls, bottles and lucky parcels. Refreshments will be available.
