Burn Park Methodist Church holds a coffee morning on Saturday, February 18, from 10 am to noon. Coffee mornings are usually held there on the third Saturday of the month.

Sunderland Cardiac Support Group had their Red Nose Media Morning at the exercise class on Thursday, January 19, at Bede Tower, Burdon Road.The group received £5,000 funding from Comic Relief in 2016 for running costs for the classes, and they are wanted to be involved in Red Nose Day in March.

Karen from Grace House will give an update when she visits Ewesley Road Ladies’ Fellowship on Wednesday, February 15, at 7.30pm.

Tea and bingo is at The Church of The Good Shepherd, Forest Road, on Saturday, February 18, at 1.30pm. Everyone welcome.

On Tuesday, February 28, at 7.30pm a Mardi Gras Party Shrove Tuesday Social Night will be held in St Mary Magdalene’s Parish Centre, Wilson Street. There will be pancakes, pancake races, quick quiz, tombola, and bingo. Tickets available soon.

Sunderland Ladies’ Probus Club meet on Thursday, February 23, in St John’s Church, Ashbrooke. The speaker will be Freda Thompson with ‘A Night at the Pictures’. Coffee is served at 10am and the meeting begins at 10.30am.

On Friday, February 24, at 7pm a Pancake/Quiz Night will be held at The Church of The Good Shepherd, Forest Road.

‘John George Lambton and Penshaw Monument’ is the title of an illustrated talk to be given to the next joint meeting of Sunderland and Bishopwearmouth Men’s Probus Clubs in The Ashbrooke Sports Pavilion on Tuesday, February 14, at 10.30am by Bernard Hope. Visitors welcome and there is no charge.

Deptford and Millfield Community Association present the panto Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on Saturday, March 18, at 3.30pm and 6.30pm, and Sunday, March 19, at 3.30pm only. Tickets £4 can be booked by calling into the Community Centre Mondays between 4pm and 7pm, Wednesdays between 4pm and 7pm and Thursdays between 1pm and 2.30pm, or call 07944 884114.

Getting together over lunch for a chat is a perfect way to keep the community together, a chance to catch up with friends, and meet new ones in a relaxed hour or so over a bowl of soup, slice of cake, and a cup of tea or coffee. On Saturday a Soup Lunch will take place at St Nicholas Church Haver Hall at 12.30pm. The cost is £3 per person. Money raised goes towards church funds.

A Holiday Bible Club is held at Pallion Gospel Hall, Pallion Road, from Monday, February 20, to Friday, February 24, from 10.30am to 11.45am. For children in reception age and over. A drink and biscuit is supplied and entry is free.
