Air ambulance call out as 'injured man' taken to hospital following Shiney Row incident

An investigation is ongoing after an injured man was taken to hospital following an incident in Shiney Row.

A number of police officers remain at Best View, off the A183, carrying out inquiries following an incident earlier today (Saturday, December 19) where a man was injured.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service was called to the incident and landed nearby in Shiney Row at around 11.15am.

A North East Ambulance Services spokeswoman said: “We were called just before 11am to reports of a man injured in the Shiney Row area.

"We dispatched a double crewed ambulance, one crew from our hazardous area response team and requested assistance from the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

"One male was transported to hospital by road.”

A spokesman for Northumbria Police confirmed officers were called to Best View, in Shiney Row, at 11am by the ambulance service ‘in relation to an injured male’.

The nature of the incident is yet to be confirmed.
