A690 Houghton Cut reopens as snow eases off
Houghton Cut is has now reopened and is fully passable after a nightmare morning for drivers.
Motorists faced a grim journey into work this morning as snow fell on the region's roads, with a crash on the A690 at Stoneygate compounding problems.
Police were reportedly towing drivers up the bank at Houghton Cut, and the road was closed to all vehicles for a short amount of time, and then only to cars and 4x4s. Buses and HGVs were turned away.
The stretch of the A690 is now fully open, however.
Elsewhere, drivers suffered long delays on the A19 and other major routes in the region.
