808 State added to Hacienda Classical bill in Sunderland

808 State, which was at the forefront of acid house music throughout the 80s and 90s, will perform with the critically-acclaimed Haçienda Classical, at Herrington Country Park, on August 19.

The band – consisting of original members Graham Massey and Andrew Barker – has performed countless sell-out gigs and festivals and collaborated with artists such as Quincy Jones and David Bowie.

They will take to the stage in support of the main Hacienda Classical event; a 90-minute continuous set of songs by artists such as New Order, Inner City, Black Box and Marshall Jefferson, all re-mixed and performed by a 40-piece orchestra.

The ground-breaking show is being staged by Northern Sessions – Sunderland Live’s in-house music promoter – after playing to full houses across Manchester, London, Glasgow, Lancaster, and Brighton.

It takes its name from the legendary Manchester nightclub, the Haçienda and, following 808 State’s performance, the club’s original DJs, Mike Pickering and Graeme Park, will be joined on stage by the renowned Manchester Camerata Orchestra, the AMC Choir and guests, including New Order's Peter Hook and Happy Mondays' Rowetta.
