Crowds gathered last Friday (October 30) to witness the unveiling of a brand new Boldon Colliery memorial.
The Boldon Colliery Heritage Group has been working for the last six years to bring memorial, which honours the mining and military history of the village, to life.
It features a life-sized statue of a Boldon Colliery pitman, a British soldier and the refurbished village clock.
Now it will serve as a permanent reminder of the sacrifices the generations of Boldon Colliery residents have made.
