Here’s some suggestions if you’re looking for a frighteningly-good time this spooky season.

1. Spooktacular, Barnes Park
Expect spooky music, flames and fireworks as Sunderland Spooktacular returns. The Halloween-themed Barnes Park event returns on Friday, October 30, with two choreographed firework shows, expanded flame effects and a full evening of entertainment. The evening begins with Spellbound, an earlier lower-noise, family-friendly display designed with younger children and families in mind. This is followed later in the evening by Afterglow, a more traditional, higher-impact firework spectacular featuring bigger effects, greater intensity and a more powerful finale. 2. Halloween Rock Day Disco, 7even
From 2000 to 2009, Ignition brought rock and alternative nights to Sunderland. Now DJs Dave and Andy are back at 7even for a Halloween rock day disco. It takes place on Saturday, October 31 from 3pm to 8pm. | Sunderland Echo

3. Horror Car Wash, Sunderland Live, Houghton
The immersive drive-through horror experience is returning to Sunderland Live, formerly Rainton Arena, in Rainton Meadows, from Friday, October 16 to Sunday, November 1. Instead of traditional horror experiences, it sees terrifying characters and scare actors bringing unexpected frights right to your car window. One ticket is required per vehicle, with early bird tickets priced from £22 plus booking fee. Tickets are available from Skiddle.com | Submitted

4. Spellbinding events at The Bridges
There's affordable Halloween fun at the Bridges this half term, with a spellbinding interactive event for little witches and wizards.
