UEFA Euro 2024

The 17th edition of the UEFA European Championship features 24 national teams competing across various cities in Germany. The England team is one of the favourites for UEFA Euro 2024 as they seek to build on their strong performances in recent tournaments.

Tune in on Thursday, June 20, at 5pm to see England take on Denmark, then it’s Slovenia’s turn to play England on Tuesday, June 25, at 8pm.

Football at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Football is a major event at the Summer Olympics, with men's and women's teams from around the world competing for gold. The 2024 Games in Paris will showcase some of the best young talents and established stars in the sport.

The opening ceremony will be held on Friday, July 26, and the epic action runs until Sunday, August 11.

Where is it happening?

Matches will be played at various locations across France, including:

·        Parc des Princes, Paris

·        Stade Vélodrome, Marseille

·        Stade de Lyon, Lyon

·        Stade Pierre-Mauroy, Lille

·        Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, Saint-Étienne

·        Stade de la Beaujoire, Nantes

Teams to watch

In the men’s tournament:

Brazil: the defending champions are known for their flair and talent.

Argentina: strong contenders with a history of success in youth tournaments.

France: the host nation boasts a blend of young stars and experienced players.

Spain: always competitive with a technically skilled squad.

In the women’s tournament:

USA: reigning world champions with a strong Olympic pedigree.

Germany: consistently strong performers in international competitions.

France: again, the host nation will be aiming for glory on home turf.

Japan: don’t underestimate their disciplined and tactical approach.

How it works:

In the men’s tournament, 16 teams are divided into four groups of four. The top two teams from each group advance to the knockout stage.

Fun fact: this is primarily an under-23 tournament, with each team allowed to include up to three over-age players.

In the women’s tournament, 12 teams are divided into three groups of four. The top two teams from each group, plus the two best third-placed teams, then move on to the knockout stage.

There are no age restrictions for the women and full senior national teams compete.
