The Clap for our Carers has been going on since the beginning of lockdown. It started as a one-off after a viral campaign, and fast became a regular event, with a grateful nation applauding the NHS and its workers from its doorsteps each Thursday.
The originator of the campaign, Annemarie Plas, has recently suggested that the tenth week of the event - this one - should perhaps be the last. She added: " I think that would be beautiful, to be the end of the series."
And as staff took to the car park at Sunderland Royal Hospital this evening to once again show their appreciation, there was a feeling amongst some that this may indeed be a last hurrah.
If so, it was a worthy one, and snapper Stu Norton caught the salutory mood on camera in these 11 pictures.
