Take a first look inside the Vermont Aparthotel on Newcastle’s Quayside

The Vermont Hotel’s luxury new Aparthotel is set to open this week and as the first guest ETC’s Sarah Jayne Adams reports on her experience.

Just a stones throw away from the historic Castle Keep and the sophisticated 1930s-style Vermont Hotel, you’ll find these luxurious apartments nestled on Newcastle’s famous Quayside, over looking the River Tyne.

The Aparthotel boasts 11 glamorous apartments, as well as two stunning penthouse suites, which are all individually designed, combining the contemporary elegance of the four star hotel along with a modern vibe to reflect the cosmopolitan city.

When entering my open-plan apartment for the evening, I didn’t know where to look first. My eyes darted from the large bay windows, which overlook onto the various restaurants and bars, to the colossal bed at the end of the room. But, I pulled away from the temptation to do dive on the plush duvet and cushions and started from the top, saving the best till last.

Hues of browns and creams flow throughout the apartment and is finished with glossy grey cabinets in the kitchen, as well as splashes of black and grey in the white marble, which covers the entire bathroom.

The kitchen, is simplistic, yet stylish and boasts everything you need including; a dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, oven, sink, all your kitchenware essentials, as well as a spacious breakfast bar.

In the centre of the room are two large leather armchairs accompanied by a matching wooden table, which overseas a flat screen TV and a grand double bed. The bathroom is pristine and due to the light, which flows in from the large window, everything from the white marbled titles to the silver detailing on the white bathroom suite glistens.

Between the views outside to the pictures of iconic buildings and streets in Newcastle, which don the walls, there’s plenty to see from every angle.

What creates the overall experience and leaves a lasting impression, I believe, are the small details and the standard of service, which are aspects The Vermont Hotel definitely reflect in its new sister accommodation.

A TV that turns 360 degrees, so you can watch it while cooking, or from the breakfast bar, the comfort of the living room and my favourite, the double bed, a complementary soothing sleeping spray and exclusive The White Company toiletries, to a light which switches on when you open the wardrobe, fluffy cushions, which are piled high on the bed, a glass of Prosecco on arrival and a butler on hand to carry your bags - it really knows how to take of its guests.

Unfortunately, for me the free WIFI didn’t work, but that was a minor problem. Plus, I guess technology and relaxation don’t really mix, do they? So, after a hot bubble bath I covered my pillow in the calming sleeping spray, sunk into bed, let the duvet consume me, turned on the TV and felt the waves of relaxation flow over me – it was pure bliss.
