5. Sunderland Comedy Project, Sunderland, July 4
The Sunderland Comedy Project takes place on the first Thursday of each month at The Peacock pub in Sunderland.

6. Northern Soul night, Trimmers Arms, South Shields, July 6
Hosted by DJ Steve Harris, the Northern Soul evening, on July 6, will be broadcast around the world on Soul Radio USA. Steve's shows regularly have more than 20000 listeners.

7. People's Pyrex, Arts Centre Washington, until July 27
This exhibition that celebrates our very close relationship to Pyrex glass. Between 1922 and 2007, all of the Pyrex sold across the British Commonwealth - with the exception of Canada - was made in Sunderland. 8. The ELO Show, Customs House, South Shields, July 5
