Could you and your dog review free holidays and days out to be a canine critic?

Could your dog take the lead to become a canine critic?

Willow and Bobby from Seaham were the winners in last year's Canine Critics competition

Canine Cottages has launched a search to find a North East dog to join its canine critics team.

The top dog – and their owner – will get to review free holidays and enjoy days out and lots of doggy goodies.

Last year’s winners were spaniels Willow and Bobby from Seaham, East Durham, who had a great year putting dog-friendly services to the test and sniffing out the best spots for a holiday with your dog.

The North East winner will join a team of 10 across the country and will become an ambassador for the brand, responsible for reviewing cottage holidays and posting on Canine Cottages’ social channels.

Competition has become fierce in recent years, from 7,000 hopeful applicants in its debut year to more than 50,000 applying last year.

The rewards for becoming one of the newly recruited Canine Critics include each lucky pup receiving a £1,000 voucher for a cottage holiday and a doggy bag full of treats.

In addition, the successful dogs will be profiled on the Canine Cottages website and appear regularly across the company’s social media channels.

Canine Cottages Digital PR Manager, Shannon Keary, said: “Our 2019 campaign was phenomenally successful and we were overwhelmed with the calibre and quantity of entries.

"The chosen 2019 Critics have been amazing and we’ve loved having them as ambassadors for our brand. Now we cannot wait to recruit ten, new top dogs for 2020. We’re on the hunt for a diverse selection of ‘real’ dogs who love to explore the UK and have their photo taken, as well as a willing human to sit, stay and lie down with.”

Willow and Bobby’s owner, Lynn Carr, said: “Being chosen to represent the North East as Canine Critics for this year was like a dream. We have honestly enjoyed every minute. From reviewing our goodies to our amazing week long stay in the picturesque Lake District. We couldn't possibly pick one favourite part.”

If you’d like to enter your four-legged friend into the competition you’ll need to submit a photo that shows their personality, as well as completing a form. Previous applicants may also enter.
