17. Hylton Castle play park
While the castle has undergone a major revamp to turn it into a community and events space, it also provides a majestic backdrop to the surrounding play park and dene. The castle was built by the wealthy Sir William Hylton, shortly before 1400 and is the second oldest building in Sunderland. Photo: JPI Media
