Nine-hour family fun day will have host of great activities in Sunderland
‘Our goal is to create a vibrant, inclusive environment ‘
Nine hours of family events are being organised by the Filipino community in Sunderland.
A fun day will be held the University of Sunderland City Space building in Chester Road on Sunday, June 7, from 8am.

Organisers from the Sunderland Filipino Community Organisation are aiming to create a ‘vibrant’ environment for people to come together.
Sheila Fortune is the SFCO Secretary/PR and said: “There will be special guests from the Philippines. They were ex professional basketball players.
“We are organising a Family Fun Day on June 7, bringing together families, young people, and the wider community for a full day of positive, inclusive activities.

“The event will feature a community basketball league, providing an opportunity for local players to take part in friendly competition, promote teamwork, and encourage active lifestyles. Alongside the league, we will host a range of family-friendly games and activities, designed to engage all age groups—from children to older adults.”
Other activities will include face painting, Filipino food stalls, an inflatable play zone and a meet and greet opportunity with the players.
Basketball matches and mini-tournaments will be held and Sheila added: “Our goal is to create a vibrant, inclusive environment where people from diverse backgrounds can come together, enjoy the day, and feel part of a supportive community.”
The day’s events also include a match between Sunderland All-Stars and Motoclub Players. Tickets start from £25.
