And as we look ahead with hope to the reopening of indoor hospitality in Sunderland and beyond – in line with the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown – from May 17, we asked the Echo readers to shout out their favourite places in and around the city for a roast dinner, if they’re dining out.

Signatures Sunderland, Wynyard Street. The restaurant is now taking bookings from May 19, according to its Facebook page.

The Beehive, Sedgeletch Road, Houghton. The pub's beer garden reopened last month in line with Government restrictions.
The Welcome Tavern, Prospect Row. The pub is currently running Sunday lunch collections and its outdoor space is open, according to its Facebook page.
The Cliff, Mere Knolls Road. Its Facebook page says bookings are being taken now for May 17 onwards.
The Stackyard Sunderland, St Cuthbert's Way. The pub is currently serving food in its covered marquee, its Facebook page said, with bookings open for May 17 and after.
The Hastings Hill, Chester Road. In March, the venue said on Facebook that it would remain closed until indoor reopenings were allowed.
The Stables Pub, East Herrington, Houghton. Outdoor areas currently open, according to Facebook.
The Cavalier, Silksworth Lane. Currently running collection and delivery slots for Sunday lunches, according to its Facebook page.
The Wolsey, Millum Terrace. Its Facebook page says the pub is currently operating a takeaway Sunday lunch service.
Wearside Farm, Turbine Way. Staff are making preparations for May 17 and after, the pub said on Facebook.
The Scullery, Warwick Terrace, Silksworth. Currently offering outdoor dining.
The Shipwrights, Ferryboat Lane. Currently offering takeaway Sunday lunches, as posted on Facebook.
Oak Tree Farm, Camberwell Way. Its Facebook page says outdoor dining and drinks are available - including Sunday lunches.
Italian Kitchen, Thompson Road. Currently operating a click and collect service for food, its Facebook page says.
The Barnes, Durham Road. Bookings have opened for May 17 and later, it says on Facebook. Under the Government's roadmap, indoor hospitality is expected to reopen from that date.
Hanover Place, Deptford. It was announced last week that San Marino, on Chester Road, will move to Hanover Place - its sister venue - for indoor reopenings in May.
