National Cream Tea Day: Where to enjoy the British tradition in the North East

But since Friday, June 25 is National Cream Tea Day, it would be positively rude not to partake in the sweet treat to kick-start the weekend.

So whether you’re jam then cream, or cream then jam, all are invited to dive in with your chosen tea, scone and preserve either from home or at your favourite eatery.

The yearly celebration is hosted by the Cream Tea Society, founded by Rodda’s Cornish Clotted Cream and Wilkin and Son Tiptree. It’s now in its seventh year.

To date, the organisers of the event have raised more than £500,000 for charities across the UK through the initiative, encouraging those planning on joining in to make a donation to a cause of their choice – if possible.

In 2021, the society is doing all it can to take cream tea celebrations online so everyone can be included in the fun.
